Bunnahabhain Distillery

Anderson Floor Warming was contracted to complete the heating and hot water system at the new visitor center at Bunnahabhain Distillery on Islay.

The design includes a coastal 14kW Mitsubishi Ecodan air source heat pump, installed to MCS standards, coupled with both a hot water cylinder for the hot water and a buffer vessel for the heating.

The heat load of the building is met by using underfloor heating, coupled with pre-heated mechanical ventilation. The system was installed on a reinforced mezzanine deck, to reduce the footprint and increase the usable area within the building.

Prawn Farm, Balfron

Anderson Floor Warming And Renewables designed, supplied and installed the heating distribution to the Prawn Farm facility from the neighboring 550kW combined heating and power (CHP) plant.

Anderson Floor Warming also assisted neighboring Strathendrick Biogas re-configure energy distribution between the CHP and their crop drying facility to simultaneously deliver energy to the farm and dryer.  The farm’s remote energy centre stores 1000L of energy produced sustainably by the CHP unit powered from biogas.

On-site Vaillant ecoTEC LPG boilers will produce 360kW of backup energy. The buffer tank then delivers heat to the farm facility via approx. 3300lm of underfloor heating pipe to approx. 900m2 and 250kW to farm process water.

Clients:

Primary: Great Britsh Prawns

Secondary: Strathendrick Biogas

Drop Off Building Edinburgh Airport

The drop off / fast park building at Edinburgh airport was a project involving tight timescales and a rigorous schedule. Anderson Floor Warming was contracted to install the heating and cooling system as well as the insulation, screed and the floor surface within the plant room. The heat pump that was used at this project was a Climaveneta unit, which is able to monitor the temperature and humidity in the building and switch between heating and cooling, and this unit supplies an underfloor heating system within the concourse area.

Kinnear Road

Anderson Floor Warming carried out the heating works at 25 Kinnear Road, which was a new apartment complex in Edinburgh. This project consisted of underfloor heating stapled to insulation, with a screed laid on top to provide the heat dispersion and thermal mass. Each apartment is served by individual boilers, and the heating is controlled using Heatmiser thermostats, which allows for control of the heating and hot water through a mobile app.

Jordanhill Development

Anderson Floor Warming carried out the heating works for the first phase of the Jordanhill development, which consists of two new residential blocks with 15 apartments throughout. The heating covered by underfloor heating and was designed to be as minimal a floor build up as possible, which was a challenge that was overcome by using thin, high-quality SF-UF insulation and a Mapei renovation screed with a mesh to disperse the heat and act as a thermal mass. Each apartment was served by a combi boiler, and the heating was controlled using Danfoss digital thermostats which allowed for temperature and time control.

Balgonie, West Linton

Anderson Floor Warming designed, supplied and installed a Vaillant flexoTHERM ground source heat pump with a horizontal ground collector in trenches, a 300litre hot water cylinder, underfloor heating to ground and first floors, heating primary plumbing, hot & cold primary and secondary plumbing throughout. Commissioned in August 2019.

Oran Mor, Byres Road, Glasgow

The former Kelvinside Parish Church at the junction of Byres Road and Great Western Road was founded in 1862, and historically has had a distinguished role to play in the history of the West End for some years, before being refurbished in 2002-2004 into 2 bars, 2 restaurants, a nightclub and a stunning event space.

The Oran Mor contains a painted ceiling by artist Alasdair Gray, one of Scotland’s largest pieces of public art.

The top floor involved the construction of a completely new floor within the void in the upper part of the church, which is fully underfloor heated using a pipe in plate system on timber battens, overlaid with a prestigous herring-bone hardwood floor.

Saltcoats Police Station

This new police station services as divisional headquarters for North Ayrshire. Underfloor heating was the natural choice for heating the prison cellblock and secure interview rooms as it is hidden, vandal proof and floors dry quickly when mopped.

Hutchesons’ Grammar School, Glasgow

Hutcheson’s Grammar school situated on the south side of Glasgow recently expanded their existing dining hall with a new build extension, which incorporates a fully glazed wall overlooking a courtyard. Underfloor heatingwas utilised due to the extent of floor to ceiling glazing, and to free up wall space, giving a flexible comfortable environment.

141 Bothwell Street, Glasgow

This £34million, 10 storey office development provides large floor plates of up to 20,000 sq ft, giving a total of 180,000 sq ft of high quality office accommodation and 60 car spaces. The building is located in the heart of Glasgow’s International Financial Services District.

Anderson Floor Warming designed, supplied and installed underfloor heating in the full height entrance area, including non standard thickness 235mm insulation specially manufactured and cut to accommodate the steelwork, as well as the self leveling high flow screed, unbonded to minimise movement joints in the granite flooring and accommodate levels.
